During the preparation of a Position Paper on First Year programmes in Australia and New Zealand in December in 2008, it became evident that there is a considerable body of knowledge and experience available which it would be advantageous for all of us to share.

A Special Interest group was formed at the Yeppoon AAEE conference. If you wish to be included on this group please email Liz Godfrey at l.godfrey@auckland.ac.nz.

Of interest at the moment are

1)      Position paper on First Year Programmes, presented to Assoc Deans Teaching and learning Forum in Dec 2008, prepared by Liz Godfrey.

2)      Preliminary notification of a Conference/forum on First Year programmes which will  be convened  3-5 August synchronously with gatherings on the East and West coast of the USA - with live hookups for Keynote speakers. The Australian group will gather at the University of Melbourne, and will be co-ordinated by Assoc Prof Roger Hadgraft,  in combination with Carl Riedesma of UNSW,                                             . Promises to be a very interesting and informative event. One of the aims is to promote the sharing of resources to maximise efficiency and effectiveness!  More later....
