During the preparation of a Position Paper on First Year programs in Australia and New Zealand in December in 2008, it became evident that there is a considerable body of knowledge and experience available that we could share.

1. 2. The forum on First Year programs ran at the University of Melbourne from 3-4 August synchronously with a gathering at the University of Notre Dame, South Bend, Indiana, USA, with live hookups for Keynote speakers. The Australian group was co-ordinated by Assoc Prof Roger Hadgraft, with keynotes Dr Carl Reidsema of UNSW and Dr Anna Carew from UTas.
